How to Get Cheap Car Insurance in Chicago

Cheap Chicago car insurance is readily available for many Illinois drivers; however, there are factors that we drivers sometimes have to deal with when it comes to car insurance. These factors make it difficult to obtain cheap auto insurance policies. Sometimes, these factors make it hard to obtain any kind of Chicago car insurance policies – period. Among these nuisances include flawed driving records, excessive points on driver licenses, and poor credit scores.

Luckily, Illinois empathizes with Chicago drivers who have a difficult time finding cheap Chicago car insurance. Illinois has minimum liability insurance requirements, and they expect all drivers to meet those requirements. Therefore, they offer the Illinois Automobile Insurance Plan (ILAIP) to drivers who can not otherwise obtain affordable car insurance in Chicago. This helps drivers operate legally on the roads, as well as protect all drivers and passengers.

All insurance companies that write automobile insurance and are licensed in Illinois are required to subscribe to and participate with the ILAIP, and auto insurance agents and brokers in Illinois are allowed to send subscription applications, too.

In order for Chicago drivers to be eligible for this car insurance program, they must first have a valid Illinois driver’s license or be eligible to obtain one. Chicago drivers must prove that they have tried to obtain Illinois car insurance in the 60 days previous to their application and been turned down each time, or not been able to find auto insurance rates that do not exceed the insurance rates offered by the ILAIP.

If you are a Chicago driver looking for cheap Chicago car insurance, but can not obtain it for whatever reason, Illinois doesn’t want you to break the law and drive without insurance. They have provided you with the ILAIP; all you have to do is follow the procedures and apply. For more information about the ILAIP, contact the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Division of Insurance
